PIETRO ANNIGONI (Canonicus)

Milano 1910 - Firenze 1988

Born in Milan on the 7th of june 1910. From 1925 he lives in Florence, where he frequented the lessons of painting and sculpture at the Accademia di Belle Arti. In 1929 he exposed some drawings at the Galleria Cavalensi e Botti in Folrence. In 1932 he did his firs personal exibition at Palazzo Perroni. Then he exposed first in Florence and the in Milan, Innsbruck, Paris, London, New York. In 1947 he signed the manifesto of the "Reality Painters", with the Saverio and Antonio Bueno brothers and with Gregorio Sciltian. From 1949 he develop part of his activity in England, where he painted the portrait of some members of the Royal Family and other important personalities. He did an incredible number of works using the most different technics: landscapes, portraits, oils and guash, frescos, litographies, etchings, sculptures, medals and a very big production of drawings and watercolours. He ran by foot almost all Italy. his frescos are in different churches. His works had been bought by many museums and galleries: Self - porttrait with fiends (1936, Galleria d'Arte Moderna, Milan), Saint Gerolamo (fresco, 1949, Lama, Cappella Veronesi Pesciolini), Portrait of Lord Moran (1951, Phisician's College, London), The beautiful italian (1951, Coll. Falk, Milan), The Poet (1952, Coll. Priv. London ), Portrait of Yuanita Forbes (1953, Coll. Forbes, London ) Portrait of H.M.the Queen Elizabeth II of England (1955, London, Fishmonger's Company), Portrait of Pricess Margareth (1957, Clarens House, London).
